Chapel's Harvest Party!

This is the third year we have been blessed to attend the chapel's Fall Harvest Party.  The kids had a great time.  There is (free!) dinner, lots of games, candy and bouncy houses.  Our friends were there and a good time was had by all.  Thea won a "guess the amount of candy" game and won...get this...a CAST IRON dutch oven, a nice skillet and a cheese grater!  Considering I had been pricing cast iron dutch ovens literally the day before on Amazon I felt very blessed indeed.  Now, I have to admit I have yet to actually use said dutch oven due to being afraid that it will be very hard to clean.  I'm not exactly an expert at keeping the bottom of pans from getting burned, but I WILL use it...eventually.

The girls dressed up as cowgirls because their real costumes were too hot and cumbersome to use in a bounce house.  Thea had this all figured out.  She wanted something cool (because past years they've fried) and easy to jump in.  For three weeks prior she considered this and my prompting to get some more use out of her handmade maiden costume were ignored.  However, I think she was wise because it sure was hot that night.

 My cowgirls and Thor.

Look at Gideon!  Isn't he doing great?  He waited in line so nicely and followed directions for the games and I was so proud of him I had to take pictures.  Now of course he did take a (really hard) swing at the young adult volunteer in the golf game, but that was before he understood the directions to hit the ball through the hole...not at the scary guy in the wolf mask.  You should have seen wolf man cower and cover himself!  Not so scary now Mr. Wolfman!
I am so very grateful to the chapel and all the many volunteers who make this event possible for the members of the military community each year.  This year it was so great to see that it was almost all young military and other young adults doing all the game stations.  Praise God.
