So today marks week 5 since I've started working out and attempting to eat right in order to lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks. I do not have a scale so I have no idea if I've lost the 10 pounds I hope i have! However, it might be a good thing. I have no chance to be discouraged by a number when I know in my head that I'm making my body stronger and healthier.
My goal continues to be to work out 6 times a week. At the beginning of the week my goal was to do a 45 min. cardio workout and a 20 min. ab workout each day. It just wasn't happening. There's no point in my day where I can have 45 minutes of uninterrupted time. It was a frustration for me and the kids, not to mention I had to shower after and they were going crazy by the time I was done with that. So I decided to do the 20 min. cardio workout and 20 min. abs each day. I can get away with 2 different 20 minute periods of time. It's not as much as I want, but it's what I can do right now. This morning I even woke up early enough to work out before the kids were awake! I was thrilled that baby Gid did not wake wake up until the last 3 minutes of my workout.
Dan is all excited about my getting in shape. He's always encouraging me and telling me that I'm getting smaller. Apparently I have an hour glass shape from the back again...it's been awhile since I had one of those! ha! I love that he supports me. He's also started doing a new workout program called Insanity (I'm sure you've seen the info-mercial) and is looking leaner himself!
Today I'll measure inches again and see if I've lost any. last week I had not, but I can feel myself getting stronger so I am not discouraged...maybe this week.
I'm a follower of Jesus, a military wife married to a hard working, involved man and a mom to 7. Our lives revolve around homeschooling, books, baseball (watching and playing), AWANA, piano, cello and gymnastics. Here are my honest thoughts on trying to make it all work and live life for the Lord the best I can.

Sewing fun
Now that summer is coming I'm loving researching all the different tutorials for little girls clothes. There are so many free patterns and tutes out there that I have a hard time getting off the computer and actually sewing! This week I had planned to make about 6 things, but only got 2 shirts finished and 1 skirt cut out. Here are the shirts after I finished them. It was dark and the girls were asleep when I finished so the light's not so good.
Here are the girls trying them on. Both shirts fit both girls, but the sleeves of the first shirt are a little tight on Thea.

I love turbo jam
So I blogged awhile ago about starting Turbo Jam and how much I enjoyed it. Well, i still do! It continues to be a great workout and I can feel myself getting stronger and tighter. Today I finished week number 4 of working out 5-6 times a week. Last week I finally got a measuring tape and measured myself and can't wait to re-measure each week and see if i'm losing inches. This week I was not so good with healthy eating so I'm not sure I will have lost any, but I'm about to go check. While researching diets, workouts and meal plans I came to the conclusion that any program I choose has to be a way I can live forever. For instance, I will never go on a yogurt only diet...because as soon as I quit the yogurt I'd go back to eating the way I did before and gain all the weight back! What changes I make have to be a way that I stick to and live with from now on. We've been doing very well with portion control at meals and eating more vegtables. I continue to struggle with soda, sweet tea and cookies. ack! It's so dumb of me to work out so hard and then blow it when I see my fav. cookies at the commisary on sale for $1.99. However, each change I make and day that I eat healthy is an improvement and I'm continuing to work on it.
