Our little zoo is quite humble as far as size and variety, but I enjoy it because I don't leave feeling like I'm about to die of exhaustion. Though small, there is still a lot to see and enjoy. Evangeline and Gideon have either never been to a zoo or have no memory of being at one. On one hand that makes me feel guilty for not taking them, but on the other hand it made it so much more fun to watch them. They had no idea what to expect for the most part and I realized half way through the day that Evangeline didn't know they would be in cages. She was happy they were though because in her words "the elephant is in a cage because it is so big". Watching an elephant on TV or seeing it in a book is one thing, but to be right up close is another. I'd forgotten what excitment seeing something like that for the first time must be. I got lost on the way there. It seemed like such a simple drive, but something went wrong and I found myself driving past places that were NOT on the way. That part was extremely stressful, but once we got there it was a great trip. Our dear friends came along to enjoy the day with us and make it extra special. I, of course, brought along the new camera so get ready for crazy picture overload!
These black monkeys were crazy. They were jumping all around and hooting and ringing the bell in their jungle gym and just going on and on. This thought came into my head-this is just like my house.
This is quite possibly the first picture of me and all the kids ever taken.
