More Hawaii fun.

Today was another great day in paradise.  I woke up early (well, at 7 instead of 7:30) to make blueberry muffins with Landon for breakfast.  We used the Emeril book again and they were wonderful.  Landon had a great time making them, too.  After breakfast we headed out to story time at the library on the army base.  Thea had been counting down the days until story time and went to bed last night talking about it.  They weren't disappointed.  They played little instruments, sang songs and danced, listened to books and did a craft.  Because it's the first Wednesday of the month, they sang "happy birthday" to the January birthdays and gave them a birthday crown.  Mareea is a January birthday and just loved it.  She wore her crown all day (until we went to the beach).

While the girls and I went to story time, the boys went over to the PX to try and find some things Dan needs for work.  A few days ago, Dan had gone in and found a mattress for us.  Since we've moved here we've been sleeping on the box springs and this morning I woke up with a back ache so bad I could hardly walk.  So today he went back in for the mattress and found that it was marked down 50%!!  We saved $350 off a $700 mattress.  What a thrill!  Now we just need to get us a dining room table and we'll be set.  We saved money before coming here and Dan got a bonus so we decided to upgrade our TV and mattress which were both over ten years old and in desperate need of replacement.

After story time we came home for a quick lunch and went to the beach.  It was a perfect beach day.  The weather was hot enough that even I got in the water, but not too hot to be uncomfortable.  We went to our favorite beach, Ko Olina, where there are lagoons that are great for kids.  Mareea was scared to death of the waves today.  There weren't even really waves, but she was terrified.  I held her on my hip and brought her out into the water and she just screamed and screamed.  Gideon did great.  He loved being in the water with daddy or sitting in the shallow water with Q kicking his feet.

Funny Mareea Story.
Mareea loves to play doll house type things and had mentioned she wanted a castle for her birthday.  So Dan and I spent about an hour last night picking out a castle and figures for her off of Amazon.  Today I asked her what she wanted to do on her birthday.  She thought I was asking what she wanted and replied, "a princess and a phone!".  LOL  um...I thought you wanted a castle for your birthday?  "No thanks" she says.  I want a princess.  I ask her if she'd like a princess in a castle and she says, "a princess castle??"  I say, "yes" and she says.  "No, I don't want those things".  So hopefully she'll just forget or change her mind again about what she wants!

Funny Thea story.

Me:Mareea, do you want to do ballet or hula?
Mareea: Ballet
Me: Thea, do you want to do ballet or hula?
Thea: SURF!!!!!

Funny Ashton story.
Me: So a chess master.  I've never met one before, have you?
Ashton: no
Me: I guess that's who's going to be teaching you chess.
Ashton: I wish I could teach myself to find my own pencil.  (as he's searching under his bed with a flashlight)

Funny Landon story.
Landon walks into the kitchen carrying a thing of salt and a pile of paper plates.  He drops all the paper plates (holds onto one) and the salt and says, "I saved a plate...but not the salt".
