I'm a follower of Jesus, a military wife married to a hard working, involved man and a mom to 7. 37 weeks
We are getting super excited to meet our little one! Dan put up the crib a few days ago and it looks beautiful! Our friend gave us the crib and I was so thankful since we had given our extra crib to a friend before we moved. I have never gotten a new bedding set for one of our babies. I decided to get one this time and went to BRU to look. They were so expensive and didn't appear to be very good quality. I took a look on Pottery Barn Baby and they had this beautiful set on sale. It was the same as I would have spent at BRU and it will last us so much longer. I'm hoping to use the quilt until she's almost 6 in her toddler bed and then save it for grandchildren! It was important to me to find something I thought would be "classic" enough to save for a long, long time. Dan suprised me by offering to buy it and so I consider it Daddy's gift to her.
I had my 37 week midwife appointment this past Monday. Sweet Baby sounds good and is head down. However, I did test positive for group B strep which means I will have IV antibiotics in labor to avoid transferring it to her during delivery. I don't really know all that much about strep B, but apparently it's not dangerous except in pregnant women. Mayo clinic's website said that I have a 1 in 200 chance of passing it to baby without the antibiotics and a 1 in 4,000 chance of passing it with the antibiotics. So I'm going to have them and just take a ton of probiotics before and after. I'll give baby probiotics, too. My midwife is quite natural, but she said she did lose a baby to it so I'm going to be cautious on this one.
Joan (the midwife) also told me that a due date based on conception date is actually more accurate than the one they gave me. This means I am actually due on Aug. 10th! I'm excited about that, but medically they will still go with the 15th. Due dates are sort of a joke anyway so I'm not going to worry too much about it.
While Dan put up the crib I worked hard on her closet. I was able to put all the bigger clothes and diapers in small bins in the hall closet and get all the 0-3 clothes and dipes organized and hung up. Our room has 3 closets so baby has one of her own! It's a good thing since she does not have a dresser or changing table. I even hung up my baby carriers in the back of her closet.
Sue sent me a box with a ton of newborn diapers in it! I got those stripped and now she has 3 bins full of newborn and small-fitting-small diapers! I have not bought any disposable diapers and am committed to using cloth to save money.
Freezer cooking is going really well. I have 12 meals, 1 spaghetti sauce, 2 black bean servings and 1 lb. browned beef in the freezer so far. I have plans for a couple more meals and some muffins. If they do not happen that's OK. At least I have the 12 in there already and I know it will be helpful.
I forgot to take a belly picture today and will have to do that tomorrow. We're getting close!!!
