Ashton's 10!!!!!!!!!

Double digits!  Yikes!  Slow down kid!  Ashton had a great birthday celebration this year.  We had friends over on Saturday to go to the beach, play games and have cake and pizza.  On Monday, his actual birthday, we took school off and had a fun day.  Grandma took him for a (big) breakfast and Daddy and I took him to lunch.  I made a new dish for dinner that everyone liked and we did presents and ate leftover cake.
I love this boy so much.  He is becoming such a wonderful young man.  His ability to notice the feelings of others is amazing for one his age.  This year I have loved watching him play soccer, improve in hip hop/breaking and enjoy sports camps and making new friends.  He still likes to spend time with us as a family playing board games or going out outings with just mama to the store.  He cracks me up by being the "modesty police" for me and the girls.  Legos are probably his favorite toy followed by army guys and sometimes playmobil still.  He loves the Kansas Jayhawks and is pretty bummed we're not able to watch it here.
His favorite music is probably Of Monsters and Men, but will humor me by not complaining about hymns.  A big interest of his right now is the vikings.
Happy Birthday to my amazing, talented, kind, thoughtful, made me a mama, Ashton!!!!!!!!

I feel like he looks so much like Dan in this picture.  I never thought I'd have a boy with longish hair, but he takes care of it and really likes it and I want him to like his hair so I'm at peace with it.  (and it's grown on me and I actually really like it!)

Birthday Loot!  Viking ship model, Jayhawk basketball, Prismacolor colored pencils, and a wallet, pen and keychain Jayhawk set.
The thing Ashton was looking forward to the most was going to get his military ID!  Now he can ride his bike to the library to check out books.  Daddy came home to take him to get it and Thea really wanted to be in the picture, too :)
