Family Happenings

It's been forever since I blogged.  I miss it and really need to charge my camera so I can upload some pictures.
Here are some things that are going on here.

I did a little bit of freezer cooking.  Basically I took a few meals and tripled them.  So we'll have the same thing each Monday for a few weeks, but no one is complaining and it's been great for the budget.  Here's our menu this week (and last week and next).

Monday-Lasagna and salad
Tuesday- Mashed Potato Pizza and pineapple
Wednesday-Papa Johns (Web Wednesdays deal.  $10 for a large 3 topping pizza.) and baby carrots
Thursday - Tacos, taco salad or Mexican casserole
Friday - Crock Pot Jambalaya
Saturday - BBQ meat in the crock pot
Sunday- Leftovers from church or frozen pizza for kids

Baseball is starting!  I got a call from Landon and Thea's coach tonight and expect a call or email from Ashton's coach soon, too.  We went and got baseball cleats tonight at the BX.  $100 later I walked out with a grim look on my face and some unkind thoughts in my mind about buying batting helmets and baseball pants for everyone.  I'm super excited about them playing, but wish I had realized baseball and soccer cleats are different earlier so I could have been looking at the thrift stores for them. On a more fun note, Evangeline found a pair of little shoes with a bunch of glitter and colors and carried them around and cried when I put them back into the box before we left the store.  Girlfriend is a girlie girl and I had nothing to do with it!  Oh!  Practice is like 5 minutes from my house which I am super, super thrilled about!

Christmas is coming!  Dan and I had a little meeting and decided to get each child a book, an outfit, a toy and an ornament to put into their stocking.  I ordered all the ornaments off of Etsy tonight.  Isn't this the cutest little mouse that I got for Evangeline?  I really hope she likes it.

The other kids got sports ornaments of what they participated in this year and Mareea got a ballet ornament.  Decorating the tree this year they were so excited to find their own ornaments that I thought I should continue the tradition.

Quintin is wrestling on the high school team.  He loves it.  It keeps him super busy and worn out for the most part.  I think that's good.  We've gotten to see him wrestle a couple of times.  I've yet to understand why anyone would want to do that sport, but he likes it and if he wants to get slammed around and smushed than I suppose it's all good.

Ashton's football season ended last weekend.  It was a different sort of experience for him.  Normally he's one of the stars on his soccer teams, but this time he spent a lot of time on the bench and the coach was not very nice to him.  It was frustrating as a parent to watch, but it was a good learning experience for him.  He now knows not to take a good coach for granted!  He also knows that football is fun, but soccer is even more fun.

Dan and I finally figured out a good way to have an in home date.  We set up a "movie theater" for the kids on our lanai (200 square foot extra room) with the laptop and popped some popcorn for them while we ate some Sam Choy's take out and played games and talked Christmas strategy.  Because they were out on the lanai we were able to really enjoy some peace and quiet and it did actually feel like a date!  We saved a lot of money on babysitting and I personally enjoy being in the comfort of my own home.

That's about it for now.  Pictures to come soon I hope!!!
