Today we had a great baseball/soccer day. Mareea had a 8am soccer game and while she had a great time I could tell she is still struggling to get back in shape/recover from the flu. Last week she played two quarters and then came home and slept all afternoon that day and the next. Today she just seemed to be breathing really hard and not going for the ball as much. This cough we have lingering may have something to do with it, too.
Thea and Landon had a game over on the windward side at 9. We went strait from Mareea's game over there. They won! It's their first win of the season so that was exciting. Landon hit an in the park home-run. Too bad they called him out at home because he really was safe...we even have it on camera. He cried but coach and another dad, as they helped him get on his catcher's gear, reminded him that he was fine and that "there's no crying in baseball", and he seemed better after that. I missed his pitching, but got to see him catch and he did awesome. Thea "got trucked" at home as her coach said. It hurt her leg but she walked it off. Coach was really impressed and I was too. She wants to hang in with the big boys so badly. Although next season she decided not to play baseball and will play volleyball instead.
Ashton's game was after Thea and Landon's and it was great fun to watch. They played a game with a team they are pretty evenly matched against. They won 7-3! Ashton caught the first two innings and pitched the next two innings. He had 2 great hits...a triple and a single. His third hit went right to the first baseman and he was out a first. I really enjoyed visiting with the moms at that game. There are a couple of really sweet ladies that are a lot of fun to chat with.
The little ones did great with all the running around this morning. They played so nicely and seemed very content to be outside and they all made friends with other little siblings. Everyone was kind and there was no drama. Gideon did slip into the channel, but thankfully Grandma was there to pull him up. He was hanging onto the tall grass so he did not go in or under...we are not sure how deep it is.
Dan treated us to Subway before we headed home. While everyone napped Dan, Grandma and I watched Leap Year which has pretty much become my new favorite movie. It's free to watch (on Netflix) and it's set in Ireland and there are cool accents. Win.
Tomorrow I play the violin in church. I have not done a solo performance since like sophomore year of high school. During rehearsal in the church I was shaking like a leaf. I hate that I get like that, but can't figure out how to stop it. I"m going to take some herbs in the morning and just pray a lot. I really want to do well...or at least OK. It's really hard to control my fingers and bow when I'm shaking so badly.
