I came down with a nasty bug on Friday afternoon. I managed to take Motrin and power through all the ball games on Saturday since Dan had to work. He worked Sunday also and I stumbled into AWANA to volunteer since my only sub (Dan) was obviously unable to take over for me. I tried really hard not to get too close to anyone. Afterwards Evangeline fell asleep on the way home and when we went to pick her up realized she was burning up with fever. Ugh. After being in Cubbies for 2 hours with all the other 3 and 4 year olds. By Monday all the kids were sick. It was pretty pitiful to see them all lying on the floor and couches. No one ate for about 2 days and they cried a lot for Tylenol because of the horrible headaches and leg pain that the fever brought. Now my mom and dad are here visiting but staying at the next door neighbor's to avoid the flu. Hopefully tomorrow they can come stay with us. The kids wave at them through the window, but it's torture for Grandma I'm sure.
Ashton never got sick and the kids have started to recover and do school. We have been so much more laid back than the "start at 6:30am and switch subjects every 1/2 hour" schedule. Gideon and Evangeline are so much happier with us all hanging out in the living room playing games and doing some school. What do I do? If I don't have the strict schedule I have to be on top of them all the time. But if the schedule is strict than my little ones are miserable. They run around and cause trouble and cry and fight a lot. I don't know what what the solution is. Sometimes I feel like there never is a perfect answer. Maybe if I can just keep everyone working in the living room and sit on the floor with the little ones while I teach we can make it work.
