I honestly have never really been on a diet. Well, at least since high school. If you knew me in high school you obviously know that the dieting didn't work out too well. Anywhoo...
Dan and I were watching The Biggest Loser last night and that sort of thing gets him really motivated. I, on the other hand, may have been eating cookies while watching it. So my loving husband told me that he was worried about me. I told him he should be worried about himself if he tried to take my cookies away. This morning I looked back on what had happened and looked at some pictures and decided that I really would like to make some changes. Not necessarily a diet, but healthy changes in my life.
So to start off with I'd like to lose 20 pounds. Ultimately, I'd like to lose 35 or 40, but I"m going to start with 20. My goal is to loose 2 pounds a week for the next 10 weeks. I won't have a chance to weigh myself since we don't have a scale here but in about 10 weeks we will have moved and I will have my scale back. Here are some ideas I have to help me do that!
1. Avoid snacking on junk foods. Mid-morning, mid afternoon and evening are when I fall into this trap. I plan to eat a healthy snack mid morning and mid afternoon with the kids and knit in the evenings instead of eat.
2. Drink more water.
3. Exercise 5-6 times a week. I'm going to do the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD and 1 "10 minute shape up" each day. On top of this I hope to take a lot of walks with the kids. I have turbojam coming in the mail and will probably do that instead of WATP when it comes.
4. Drink green tea sweetened with honey that I make at home instead of soda or sweet tea that I buy.
5. Pay attention to my portions at lunch and dinner
6. Eat more veggies at lunch and dinner. Fruit hurts my teeth...don't ask.
7. And Pray!! I need to pray for the strength to be able to make these changes and that I will do it as unto the Lord and not unto man.
Did I miss anything?

Elizabeth, I love reading your blog! When I lost bunches of wheight the first thing I did was stop eating after 7pm. Fairly painless and I lost wheight! I'm sure it was because of the eating habits I had after 7 but worth thinking about. So fun to hear what your doing for school and I will totally file the info away about knives at rentals :)
