Thea

This little girl is something else.  Have I blogged about how the oldest 4 are taking a hip hop/breaking class at our dance studio?  They love it.  Ashton is all about learning how to spin on his head.  So Thea decided she wanted to spin on her head.  At the end of class they all stand in a circle and the kids take turns going in the middle and dancing.  Ashton loves it, Landon hates it and Miss Thea is super confident for being the littlest one in class.  Anyway, Dan came home and told me that when it was her turn she danced and did a full spin on her head!  He said all the parents were open mouthed and he was too.
She is her own person.  I try so hard to let these kids be themselves and to protect them from others telling them that the things they like aren't "cool".  This means Thea wears a boys lego shirt at least once a week, hates dresses, hates princesses and hates pink.  I am screaming inside, but bite my tongue because I know Thea is who God made her...not who *I* want her to be.  The result seems to be a confident girl who knows what she likes.  Last week in class the teacher asked for a volunteer to dance their show piece alone...and to go first.  Who volunteered without hesitation??  You guessed it, Thea!  And she did great.

Here's a Thea funny-
Thea walks into the kitchen crying and says, "Landon punched me in the eye!"
Landon says, "You told me to!!"
Thea says, "I told you to punch me in the nose!"
Landon says, "I tried, but I missed!"

Apparently Thea wanted to get bloody noses like the boys do and so she asked Landon to punch her in the nose.  It backfired a little.

Thea has also started her birthday list.  She has asked for army guys and legos.  AND...while I was on amazon she got all excited and said, "Let's look at knives!" because she wants a swiss army knife like her brothers have.  I would say this is the boy's influence, but Mareea is so exactly opposite.  She loves anything pink and princess and likes to dramatically brush her hair out of her face while leaning one hip to the side.
Like I tell Dan all the time, "there is no shortage of personality in this house".

But...

Thea loves embroidery, baking, painting and shopping.  And she loves to hold Evangeline.
She is a girl for sure, just not the world's mold of one.

(or maybe it's all Dan's fault?  When she was six months old I walked outside to find her Daddy standing her up in front of a soccer ball and moving her leg to have her kick it.  He said he wanted to get her started early.)
