We enjoyed a wonderful Veteran's Day today with our favorite veteran...Daddy. He was blessed with a day off and we planned a trip to the beach. In order to get there early (and guarantee a parking spot) we packed everything up the night before, laid out swimsuits and left at 7:30 this morning. We went to Ko Olina Lagoons, which I think is the most beautiful beach on the island. It's in my top 3 places on Oahu for sure! The beach is shallow and calm and the sand is smooth without many rocks at all. The older children can swim out aways and snorkel. Today they were thrilled to see fish of all different colors, a "flat fish" and one that was about 2 feet long. I may need to get them an underwater camera so we can look up what kind of fish they are seeing!
Poor Evangeline was not enjoying the beach as much as the other children. She was fussy, tired and seemed uncomfortable. I had her dressed to shield the sun and not get cold, but I think she just really wanted her own bed and to be at home. It is her favorite place to be. She fell asleep in the ring sling for a bit, but other than that she fussed and cried.
After the beach, we enjoyed some great food at Taco Del Mar and a trip to Target. We bought nothing at Target! Can you believe it? I saw nothing buy cheap plastic and clutter when I looked around. But it was still fun to look!
This afternoon I was able to make valences for the girls' room, a pair of boxers for Dan (that I messed up and will now fit Quintin) and a cute knit hat for Evangeline to wear on our nightly walks. Her ears always feel cold when we're walking. Hopefully this will fix that. I'm hoping to make some matching hat and pants sets for her now that I've found some good patterns.
Dan is at the commissary getting some things for dinner. We had planned to eat out, but the restaurant on base is closed for the holiday. Oh well, guess I'll have to cook!
