Favorite Things Friday

Whooo hooo!  It's Friday!  Dan had a huge test today and was able to come home after he finished.  He feels good about how it went and I'm excited to have him home and relaxed for the weekend.  We're looking forward to peach picking, pizza and possibly the children's museum.

This week I'm loving the Five in a Row curriculum.  We're starting our preschool homeschool next week and I'm thrilled to be using this again.  I've used it in the past with Ashton and Landon and we've really enjoyed it.  We own Before Five in a Row (for 2-4 year olds) and Five in a Row Volumes 1 and 2 (for ages 4-8).  Each unit lasts a week and uses a classic children's book.  Each day you read the book and then do an activity for different subject each day.  For instance, on Monday we may find the country the book is set in on the map and read non-fiction books about it.  On Tuesday we'll do a science experiment that relates to something talked about in the book, Wednesday we might practice drawing with the medium the illustrator of the book used, Thursday we'll count several different things in the book and Friday discuss new vocabulary the book contained.
Before Five in a Row is much more gentle and light as it's for little ones, but still so enjoyable.  Our family has been introduced to some wonderful children's book through this curriculum that we have continued to read for years.

I'm also loving my new Gro Via cloth diaper.  I got one of these at a diaper store to try out and it's wonderful.  It's trim (i can't stand the huge diaper butt) and still absorbent.  Unfortunately, they are way too expensive for me to buy a whole stash worth, but I'm enjoying the one I have!

The last thing I'm loving is finally figuring out how to print a shipping label from my paypal account and leaving it in my mailbox for the carrier to pick up!  I've always hated going to the post office.  My mom gave me a pampered Chef food scale and I just weigh the package on the scale and put the info. in and it prints me up a label with postage on it to attach to the package.  I put it in my mailbox or next to it and it's out that day.  Sooooo much less stress and cheaper, too!  I get delivery confirmation for 19 cents and I'm thinking some sort of discount on the shipping, but I'm not sure on that one.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!
