I had so much fun making these diapers for Eryn and pray she will be blessed by them. The whole project cost me $3 total and I finished them pretty quickly. If I find some more receiving blankets at the thrift store I might be tempted to make more! Probably shouldn't though. I'm sending her 6 prefolds, these 8 fitteds, 2 other fitteds I have and an all in one. That should be enough for the newborn stage and I don't want her to feel overloaded with stuff...which we all know is very easy to do with a new baby.
These diapers will be fastened with a snappi instead of snaps or velcro. I like snappis because they make the sizing more adjustable (so the dipe will fit longer) and it also seems to make the diaper a little more trim. Not to mention velcro and snaps are a pain to put on!
If you don't know, I met Eryn for the first time in Hawaii. She flew out to nanny for us for a month when Dan was deployed and Thea was born. I was talking to my friend Ann on the phone about how we didn't have anyone to help when the baby was born and I did not know who could come to watch the kids when I went to the hospital. She mentioned Eryn as sort of a joke, but it turned into a reality very quickly. What a blessing. I was able to get the help I so desperately needed when my husband was gone and I had so many little children. What a wonderful person she was to come all the way to Hawaii to stay for a month with a family she had never even met!! I learned so much from her while she was with us...about healthy eating, bible memory and most importantly...a meek and quiet spirit. Eryn came again when Mareea was born and made amazing meals for us and helped with our other children. Now she is married and having a baby of her own. I am so happy for her and so thankful for all she has given to our family!!! I love you, Eryn!
